As a gal who grew up eating buckwheat pancakes and bulgur wheat pilaf, I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to announce a Bob’s Red Mill giveaway! Whether you’re looking to eat more whole grains or simply want to eat more “real” food that isn’t full of artificial ingredients, Bob is your man.
These days, navigating the grocery store aisles can be intimidating. Rows and rows of brightly lit stores feature pretty boxes making big claims: all natural, gluten free, organic, whole grain, etc. You name it, products are claiming it.
The fact is, Bob’s Red Mill has been offering real, natural, whole grain products for decades. Bottom line:? If Bob’s name is on the package, you can feel good about serving it to your family!
Need a little inspiration? Here are a few of my favorite recipes using Bob’s products:
Lentils: Lentils & Bulgur Wheat with Caramelized Onions
Brown Rice: Creamy Brown Rice with Bacon and Corn
Whole Wheat Pastry Flour: Chocolate Zucchini Bread
Bulgur Wheat: Stuffed Peppers with Beef & Bulgur Wheat
Farro: Greek Style Farro Salad
In honor of today’s giveaway, I am sharing a delicious, creamy and satisfying smoothie full of protein, fiber and healthy omega 3 fatty acids thanks to Bob’s Red Mill flax seed meal. Busy morning? Place everything but the ice in the blender, refrigerate overnight then blend with ice in the morning.

I try to use whole grains in as much of my baking as possible and, for certain recipes, use healtheir substitutions (ie using greek yogurt, coconut oil, etc.)!
One of my favorite ways is by joining a CSA. We get to try fresh produce that I might not buy at the market. Anything that is leftover towards the end of the week can usually be thrown in a juicer or smoothie. Great giveaway!!
Great tip about the juicer/smoothie for end of week!
Did it, did it all. RSS Feed, all the Pinterest following and Facebook liking. The only thing I didn’t do (yet!) is tweet about it because I don’t know how LOL. I’ll see if I can get Hubby to explain it to me!
My favorite way to maintain a healthy lifestyle is to eat wheat-free. Been wheat free 9 days now and already feeling amazing benefits. Can’t wait to see what continues to happen as I continue on the wheat-free path. Hope I win!!
Thanks for entering Sarah! Just a heads up, in order to be entered more than once, you need to leave a separate comment for each action (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) Thanks again!!

My favorite way to maintain a healthy lifestyle: several! For the last fifteen years, I haven’t eaten any red meat- I’ve since gone full vegetarian and drink mostly water with lemon. Getting up first thing in the morning for a walk/jog really helps start the day off right, as well
Thanks so much Christy! Just a heads up: you need to leave a separate comment for each action (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) for additional entries to count! Thanks again!!
I’m always trying to find ways to make recipes healthier, trying to get more creative with ingredients. And also keeping stuff out of the house helps. Of course, I have to have some chocolate stashed, so I stick with the small squares of very dark chocolate. And a glass of red wine a day!
I always have dark chocolate stashed too.
I also make a lot of ethnic foods with loads of flavor and lots of veggies with a smaller amount of lean meat. And limit the starches.

Lately, every time I’m craving a soda, I make myself drink a glass of water first. Most times, I don’t want the soda anymore!
GREAT tip!! I gave up diet soda in 2009 and am addicted to sparkling water like LaCroix or club soda. Now soda tastes too sweet or chemically!

My favorite way to maintain a healthy lifestyle is by pre-planning meals for the week. If I am hungry and not sure what I am going to make I can end up making unhealthy decisions.

I’m eating more grains and beans instead of red meat. I am a huge fan of quinoa and bulgar mixed and made into a stuffing for vegetables. Very healthy.
I stay healthy with a whole foods vegan diet and spin classes and pilates!
liz, I made this vanilla spice smoothie and it is very good, but I wondered how you ended up with the color you did, mine was green.
Did you add in all of the spices? My smoothies usually end up on the brown side due to the cinnamon, nutmeg and other spices I add.
Let me know if that helps!
yes, I used all the fruit and spices, yogurt, protein powder, I guess my spinach just overpowered everything, at least in color, but the flavor was incredible.
I’m glad you enjoyed it!!
Wow that was unusual. I just wrote an extremely long comment but after I clicked submit my comment didn’t show up. Grrrr… well I’m not writing
