{Edgeware Giveaway!} Ode to Zesting and Grating

by Liz DellaCroce · 111 comments

As a gal who incorporates lemon, ginger and garlic into almost every meal, I was pretty thrilled to discover Edgeware graters and the Better Zester.  Scratch that, I was ecstatic.  From the minute I grated my first ounce of parmigiano reggiano, I was completely sold.  Instantly, my pasta was covered in a snow shower of perfect little swirls of the tangy, salty cheese.  To say that I am completely smitten with Edgeware products would be an understatement.

3 Reasons I Love Edgeware Graters and Zesters:

  1. Razor Sharp: Immediately, I noticed how sharp these graters are compared to others. Sharp utensils = happy cook.
  2. Brilliant Colors: Yellow, orange, blue and more…. life is too short to work in a black and white kitchen.
  3. Sturdy and Strong:  Let’s be real – who hasn’t had the misfortune or working with a flimsy cheese grater in the past?

Giveaway Time! Today I am thrilled to be giving away a beautiful Set of Edgeware Graters valued at over $65.00!  Just think, if you win, you could…

Add Ginger to Smoothies: Store peeled ginger in the freezer and use the Better Zester any time you are making a smoothie.  Ginger is the perfect way to bring out the flavor of blueberries, raspberries or peaches.  Added bonus?  It is a natural digestive aid and holds a whole host of additional health benefits.  Try my Strawberry Ginger Smoothie to get started.

Parmigiano Reggiano – Good to the Last Ounce: If you think parmesan cheese comes in a green plastic container, skip this section. If you know that parmigiano reggiano is the undisputable King of all Cheeses, then you know that it is a bit pricey.  By using the Better Zester instead of a traditional cheese grater, the same amount of cheese will look twice as big thanks for the light and fluffy swirls of cheesey goodness that result.  Added bonus? Less cheese needed = less calories consumed. You’re welcome.  Case in point? Stuffed Peppers with Beef and Bulgur Wheat

Garlic, Garlic and More Garlic: My family is Middle Eastern and my husband is Italian so, needless to say, garlic is coming out of our pours.  I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, the reason my food tastes so good is because I use fresh garlic. And lots of it.  I love it roasted, I love it in a sauce and it tastes great in chili. But, if you really want to know the truth, I prefer it raw. I also happen to believe that regular consumption of raw garlic is the reason my Great Aunt Vieve lived a long and healthy life. Don’t worry, we don’t do garlic shooters or anything. We simply grate it into our salad every night with fresh lemon juice and olive oil.  (PS: Don’t forget to zest the lemon for extra flavor.)

Giveaway:  {Giveaway Closed! Congratulations to Lindsay, #4!} One (1) Winner will receive a Set of Edgeware Graters valued at over $65.00!

To Enter: Leave a comment on this post sharing your favorite way to boost flavor in healthy recipes.

Wow, they look like great implements.
It would be wonderful to add parmesan to recipes – just for me – because hubby is lactose intolerant.

To be eating a snow storm of cheese on top of things like baked squash, potato, or the like . . . heavenly.

To get over the knuckle grinding hazards of trying to grate nutmeg or ginger into baked goods or stir-fry/grain dishes – what a blessing.

My standby just snapped in half a few weeks ago!
I am forlorn without it and don’t want to be disappointed with another one that breaks!
I love getting a dry cheese from the ‘snack cheese’ section at Whole Foods. Something unique and strong and then adding a light grate over the top of whatever. Then you don’t have a ton of cheese hanging around in the house (not that that’s a bad thing), but it also allows you to try a few different kinds. My old standby is the aged Robusto – it’s the perfect combination of salt and tang. I grate that over everything. I’ve had it on dinner salads twice this week alone!

It snapped?? oh SNAP! Ok sorry, couldn’t resist. I heart salt and tang as well.

A cook without tools is like a hairdresser with no scissors. I have been viewing different types online, but none caught my eye so quickly as this one. Vibrant color and looks like it’s a perfect fit for me! I will enjoy it very much, if and when I get one. Have a great day.

I have a hand grater that I use to grate Parmesan cheese out of the freezer onto anything boring- it works OK if you avoid the areas that melted in the dishwasher. These graters look fantastic!
Back to the real Parmesan cheese- once I froze a block of the real, quality stuff and grated just a little on food instead of the pre-grated stuff in a container in the fridge, I have never gone back. There is no comparison flavor-wise! I highly recommend this technique to anyone- it takes only seconds, is much healthier, and you get so much more taste for way less calories. If you buy a chunk of cheese with the rind on it, save the rind and throw it in soup to add flavor there- just remember to fish it out before serving the soup.
