A recap of my weekend getaway in Detroit to celebrate the expansion of Tillamook products in select Kroger stores nationwide.
Last month I was invited to spend a weekend in Detroit along with 14 other national food bloggers in honor of Tillamook products rolling out in select Kroger stores nationwide this spring. Since I am a huge fan of spending face time with my friends and colleagues, I was so happy to be included in this special event hosted by my friend Sarah of Broma Bakery.
As bloggers, we spend most of our time working alone and our primary form of interaction is via social media or text. While great for staying connected across the miles, nothing is better than the energy you feel spending a weekend with your people. Home base for the weekend was the beautiful Detroit Foundation Hotel. When you step foot in this hotel, you would have no idea it was Detroit’s former Fire Department Headquarters.
As you probably know by now, I have a degree in Hospitality Administration and worked for many years in hotel sales for Marriott International so the hotel geek inside of me was flipping out.
Each room of the hotel demonstrated a perfect balance of iconic design and modern luxury. I am so excited to be returning in July for to write a Detroit travel story.
Once we arrived, the evening kicked off with a cocktail hour at the Apparatus Room located on the first floor. If you appreciate hand crafted cocktails in a historic yet modern setting, be sure to check it out the next time you’re in The D.
I had so much fun reuniting with 0ne of my oldest and dearest blogging friends, Monique of Ambitious Kitchen. She is such an inspiring boss babe and I love being around her!
If you’re ever in need of private event space in Detroit, you will love Brooklyn Outdoor. In fact, we spent much of the weekend in this gorgeous, airy space.
Day two began the way every day should begin: with a private yoga class taught by Sitara Bird. It felt so good to share this wellness experience with my friends and fellow bloggers. If only we could do it every weekend!
For breakfast we returned to Brooklyn Outdoor to blend our own smoothie bowls and prepare our own yogurt parfaits.
You know me, I can never resist a good smoothie bowl, especially one topped with Simple Truth organic ingredients!
Later that morning we spent time working on our 2018 business goals and then we got to have fun putting together our very own charcuterie boards. Of course, Kroger and Tillamook supplied us with everything we needed from Private Selection meats to cheese to crackers to spreads.
To finish off the evening, we were treated to a multi-course dinner at Grey Ghost featuring a custom menu designed just for Tillamook and Kroger.
It’s hard to pick my favorite bite of the evening but this spam topped cheesy waffle was definitely up there.
Of course, the only thing better than the food was spending more quality face time with my blogging buddies like this pretty lady, Tessa. If you’re a blogger or an online entrepreneur, be sure to check out Tessa’s new podcast The Sweet Scoop. Yours truly was a guest on episode four!
To wrap up the delicious #LegenDairyWeekend, we enjoyed a family-style brunch prepared once again by chef Sarah Welch at Brooklyn Outdoor featuring more delicious Kroger and Tillamook products. A huge shout out to Event Planner Haley of Detroit Cultivated who created such beautiful spaces and table spaces for us all weekend.
If there’s one thing I now know for sure: Detroit has it going on!! A huge thank you to Kroger and Tillamook for sponsoring such a beautiful, informative and fun weekend. If you live east of Texas, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for Tillamook products in your local Kroger stores!
Disclosure: Kroger and Tillamook hosted me during my time in Detroit. I have been compensated to write this post. Thank you for supporting the brands that make The Lemon Bowl possible. All thoughts are my own.
