Juicy peaches are blended with creamy yogurt and fresh ginger to create this protein-packed smoothie that tastes like summer in a glass.

It’s peach season here in Michigan – finally! This week at the farmer’s market I found Red Haven peaches – the most perfect little fruit that smells like flowers and honey. It’s a far cry from the jumbo “perfect peaches” you find at the grocery store in the middle of Winter only to bite into a dry, white version of what we thought was a peach. Wah Wah.

Have you ever met one of those crazy foodies so obsessed with local Michigan produce? They complain all year about tasteless food and by the time August rolls around, they are so excited and freakishly stimulated walking through the farmer’s market that they accidentally purchase enough produce to feed a small country? Whoopsies!

Have you ever noticed that local, fresh produce that was never pumped full of hormones or shipped halfway across the world doesn’t stay fresh as long as those fist-sized strawberries you found in the grocery store earlier this year? Shoot.

My solution? Smoothies. Ahh smoothies. Quick, easy, refreshing and a very sneaky way to get your family to consume flax seed. Shh….it’ll be our little secret.
Your straw is waiting.
