Happy Fourth of July Everyone! When my husband relocated with me back to my hometown of East Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2007, he joked that we officially residents of “Pleasantville.” I’m not going to lie, it is a lot like Pleasantville but that’s exactly why I chose to raise my family here.
As you can imagine, 4th of July is a bit of a big deal around here. The weather is gorgeous and there are outdoor festivities scheduled morning, noon and night.
The day will start with a parade through our town (with my cousin Tanya heading up one of the floats!) and will end with multiple fireworks displays throughout the city. Oh and fireworks are newly legal here in Michigan so it will be a loud evening. I sort of like it and luckily Little Man sleeps through it.
In between, there will be boat rides, Michigan strawberries, BBQ’s, s’mores and more.
Ok fine, I live in Pleasantville. I’m ok with that. :) Have a great holiday everyone and God bless America!
