As you know, I’ve been working with my friends at Sabra for several years now. Having had the opportunity to visit their headquarters not only once but twice, I really consider the company to be family at this point.
Today Sabra is launching #UnofficialMeal campaign and I couldn’t be more excited to tell you all about it. I mean when you think about it, when do you most often enjoy Sabra hummus and dips with friends and family? It’s usually that hour or so, right before dinner, when you’re starving but dinner isn’t quite ready yet. I don’t know about you but I’m usually enjoying a glass of wine with friends or sharing an IPA with my husband.
We focus so much on meal time that I think we forget to give credit to #UnofficialMeal which is yet another opportunity to fuel your body with healthy, nutritious foods like protein-rich hummus, raw veggies or seedy crackers. And if you have kids, you know first hand that waiting around for dinner to be ready isn’t really in their vocabulary.
While there are so many incredible flavors (I’m on an olive tapenade and chipotle kick right now!), I also love mixing it up with a few easy toppings that I always have around in the kitchen. There’s no formal recipe because after all, it’s #UnofficialMeal.
Just sprinkle a tub of hummus with a tablespoon or so of earthy za’atar, drizzle with a little olive oil and sprinkle with lemon juice and a pinch of kosher salt. You can find za’atar at most large grocery stores, international markets or simply buy it on Amazon.
In fact, those same ingredients also happen to make a delicious salad vinaigrette while you’re at it. Add mint and fresh garlic and you’ve got yourself a Middle Eastern Syrian Salad to go with the yummy hummus.
What is your favorite hummus topping? Do you love snacking on Sabra dips before dinner? If you do, take a photo and share on social media using #UnofficialMeal and tag me (@TheLemonBowl)! I’d love to see it!
