An introduction to grassmilk yogurt plus creative ideas for toppings and mix-ins.
My little boys are only 4 and 6 but let me tell you: they are already eating me out of house and home! Everyone warned me and BOY were they right – these guys love to eat.
Since my kids are basically always hungry, I love to keep our kitchen stocked with healthy and nutritious snacks like Organic Valley Grassmilk Yogurt. Their artisanal, 100% grass-fed line of yogurts is produced by cows that eat only fresh grasses and dried forages, like hay. In fact, they are never fed supplemental grains like soy or corn.
Of course, as I always say, if the food doesn’t taste good it doesn’t matter how healthy it is so I am always coming up with creative topping and mix-in ideas to keep them excited about eating yogurt. One popular combination at the moment: fresh berries, walnuts and hemp seeds. It is the ultimate topping for just about any flavor of Organic Valley’s 100% grass-fed, whole milk yogurt.
Craving a little chocolate? Who isn’t. Start by melting a couple tablespoons of peanut butter in the microwave then drizzling it on top of your favorite flavor of Organic Valley Grassmilk yogurt.
Next, sprinkle with chocolate chips and unsweetened coconut flakes. My boys love this combination on the strawberry flavor but it would even be good on plain!
Speaking of plain, for a savory spin try topping the yogurt with cucumber, dried mint, olive oil and a sprinkle of salt. A twist on Greek tzatziki sauce, my oldest son gobbled this version up first! It would also be great scooped up with pita chips.
Truly, the options are limitless. Just get in the kitchen with your kids, be creative and have fun! The more they’re involved with cooking, the more likely they will to learn healthy eating habits.
Your spoon is waiting.
