This lemon-lime drink tastes like the bottled or powdered version I enjoyed as a child. Inexpensive to mix up, it’s delightfully refreshing. Use freshly squeezed juices for the best flavor.
As a relatively new mom raising two young boys under the age of 3, I have a lot of respect for the woman responsible for this delicious Lemon-Lime Sports Ade recipe. Jessica Fisher, author of Best 100 Juices for Kids, is not only a successful blogger, writer and former teacher but she is also homeschooling, work from home mother of SIX children. Six! Impressive, right?
I met Jessica last year when I attended Camp Blogaway in Southern California. After hearing her speak at a breakout session titled “Strategies for Keeping Your Blog Going and Not Running Out of Steam” I immediately ran over to introduce myself. Needless to say, Jessica is wicked smaht.
As a healthy food blogger who has gone through her own weight loss journey, I was thrilled when Jessica asked me to review her latest book, Best 100 Juices for Kids. Replacing processed sugars with naturally sweet foods like fruit and fresh juice is one of the easiest and most important steps to living a healthier lifestyle.
Not only are the recipes in this book creative and thoughtful but there is something for everyone. Veggie-based juices, chocolatey smoothies and everything in between.
Of course, I couldn’t pass up this tart, tangy and slightly sweet Lemon-Lime Sports Ade. I love that she adds sea salt to balance out the flavors and add a bit of sodium to replenish nutrients after a sports practice, dance class or soccer match. Not only is this version of your favorite sports drink ridiculously easy to make but it is much more affordable than the store-bought version.
Your straw is waiting.

There is no place for gatorade in my life anymore now that I have this. So excited because I really hate gatorade but had no other choices on long runs!
We don’t juice – so this would be great to get started. I rarely let me kids have soda, and if we do, we use soda stream. We are mostly water drinkers here, but some alternatives would be nice to add some variety. Thanks!
We love adding spinach, berries, pineapple and mango to our juices and smoothies! Thanks for highlighting this aide drink, I’m definitely going to make it for my family!! Looks great for our camping trips. :)
I can’t wait to try this!
I wish this was sold at all the concession stands at all the kids baseball, soccer and football games. I do assemblies for elementary school children and I always bring up Gatorade as one of the villain foods…they look at me like I’m crazy! I like cucumber water and so does my teenaged daughter!
I love adding apples, carrots, lemons and beets just to name a few!
This looks perfect for summer!
Definitely need this book because the only things I’ve ever added to water are lemon slices!
I love any beverages with lemon.
Carrot and apple!
Sounds like a preggo-perfect summer drink to me, too! This looks so icy cold, refreshing and delicious, Liz. I could slurp gallons in this Texas heat!
Yes it does sista!! xo

I love adding cucumber and citrus fruits (lemon, lime) to my juices! The cucumber is so refreshing and the citrus just brightens everything up! I would LOVE to get my hands on this book, especially for the coming summer months.

My fave combo is apple beet carrot :)
My kids and I love to start the day with “green juice”. We put green apples, ginger, lemon, kale and spinach in the juicer. Delicious and nutritious! Can’t wait to try your recipe, Liz!
