I’m a huge fan of the traditional BLT but inevitably, I always find myself trying to boost up the total nutrition. Whether it’s adding in a little turkey, spreading on hummus instead of mayo or skipping the 2nd piece of bread and eating it open faced, I’m all about a healthier sandwich.
Fun, easy and always delicious, I decided to kick up my most recent BLT by spreading toasted whole grain bread with Sabra’s newest product: spreads! Available in three great flavors including Garlic Herb, Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper & Honey Mustard, each variety is vegan, gluten-free, kosher and non-dairy.
For my open-faced avocado BLT I decided to go with the Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper flavor to pair bring out the flavor of the creamy avocado and juicy ripe tomatoes. Honey mustard would work well too, especially with the smoky bacon.

- 4 slices whole grain bread
- 1/2 cup Sabra Spreads Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper
- 4 leaves bibb lettuce
- 8 slices cooked bacon
- 1 avocado pitted and sliced
- 8 slices tomato
- salt and pepper to taste
Toast each slice of bread and top each slice with two tablespoons of the Sabra Spreads.
Layer each toast with lettuce, bacon, avocado slices and tomato slices. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
