A list of twenty easy, healthy portable snack ideas for kids!

School has been back in session for about a month here in Michigan and I’m happy to say we are FINALLY getting into the swing of our new routine and schedule.

My oldest is in first grade and for the first time ever has to pack TWO snacks a day, in addition to his lunch.

My youngest is in Pre-K and is now in school all day for the first time ever! And, you guessed it, he also has to pack a snack every day in addition to his lunch.

Between the two of them, that’s two healthy lunches and three healthy snacks that need to be portable and moderately shelf/temperature stable for 8 hours. Talk about pressure! Can you relate?

Needless to say, when my friends at RXBar announced two brand new flavors in their kids line, this Mama jumped for joy!

Just like the adult bars, each kid bar is Gluten Free, Soy Free, Dairy Free contains No Added Sugar- plus they taste amazing! They’re just a little smaller and a little smoother for little ones to be able to enjoy easily.

Ideal for road trips, a weekend of errands or after school sports events, I always keep a couple bars stashed in my glove compartment, purse and gym bag.
Hungry for more? Here are 20 of my favorite portable healthy snack ideas for kids, most of which are shelf stable and naturally gluten free:

Might I suggest roasted chickpeas? If you bake them in the oven, you can add different flavor combos, like spicy, or cinnamon sugar, or just plain. They are great on the go, and can be as crunchy or soft as you’d like!
OH yes great idea!
