In this Post: Everything you need for Chocolate Espresso Protein Smoothie
Chocolate and coffee are some of the best flavor combinations of the world and one that I was first introduced to by my beautiful mother. Every family birthday celebration was centered around my mom’s famous “Duck Cake” which was simply a yellow cake baked in a duck-shaped pan. You see, my maiden name is Davis so my sisters and I grew up as the “Davis Ducklings.” (Don’t ask.)

Speaking of ducklings, my first niece (my mom’s first granddaughter) was born a few weeks ago. She is such a doll and I want to eat her cheeks. Isn’t my mom gorgeous?

But back to the Duck Cake… Did I mention how large the pan is? Perfect for a crowd, it takes at least two boxes of yellowcake. And yes, I said boxes. Because frankly, there are few things more delicious than boxed yellow cake. Of course, the icing on the cake was my mom’s homemade chocolate coffee frosting. I’m not sure what it is about coffee but it takes the chocolate flavor to new heights.

The next time we have a family birthday party I will share the official Duck Cake with Chocolate Coffee Frosting recipe. In the meantime, here is a Chocolate Espresso Protein Smoothie you can indulge in on a daily basis. Packed with over 24 grams of protein per serving, this on-the-go meal in a glass will give you long-lasting energy all day long.
I wish I could say the same for the Duck Cake. ;-)
Your straw is waiting.

Looking to make my own protein drinks. Thank you.
Where is the sodium coming from? The powered protein?
Most things have some sodium in them, almost all of the ingredients have some level of sodium.

Is it possible to partially or fully combine the ingredients for this the night before and keep it in the fridge?
What I typically do is put everything in the blender and refrigerate overnight then add ice in the morning and blend!
Sounds amazing, thanks for sharing! Need to make this ASAP :)
I hope you love it!!
