There’s something so simple yet irresistible about a crisp, lemony cabbage salad, especially when it reminds me of the fresh, vibrant dishes I grew up eating! This Lebanese Cabbage Salad is one of those sides I find myself making on repeat, whether I’m serving it with grilled chicken shawarma or next to my favorite Middle-Eastern mains. It’s bright, refreshing, and pairs beautifully with everything from hearty stews to lighter weeknight meals. How to Make Lebanese Cabbage Salad

Step 1. Start by shredding your cabbage with a sharp knife or using a mandoline.

Step 2. Then add the cabbage to a large bowl along with the dried mint and fresh parsley.

Step 3. Use a microplane or garlic press to add fresh garlic to the salad, and season with salt and pepper.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 1 lemon juiced about 1/4 cup
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons dried mint
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons minced parsley

Instructions
 

  1. Place all ingredients in a large bowl and toss well to combine. Check for seasoning and adjust to taste adding more lemon, garlic or salt if needed.

Liz’s Notes

This salad is great with dried mint but I also love making it with fresh mint in the summer. The thinner the cabbage, the more dressing it can hold so use a really shark knife or even a mandolin for ideal results.

    This was delicious! I couldn’t find dried mint anywhere, so I used fresh, and it was lovely. I used somewhat more than 6 cups of cabbage so decided to double the dressing, which worked out beautifully. This will definitely go into my regular rotation.

    I love the Lebanese cabbage salad from my local Lebanese/ Mediterranean market and have bought it frequently. I’ve made it using several recipes and they were close but not exact. This is it!!! I’m enjoying it now with a lobster roll and suspect I’ll be serving it and eating it all summer. Great recipe!

    Can I replace the dried mint with something else? I don’t mean to degrade the recipe, just mint does not agree with me.

      You could try dried parsley or oregano!
