Hand holding a blood orange vodka soda.

I’ve always been a true believer that you don’t need to go out to enjoy a great cocktail. Most classic cocktails are so simple and easy to make at home, not to mention the possibilities to experiment with flavors. I love the classic vodka soda because it is lower in sugar and calories than some more fruity mixed drinks, and it uses only 3 ingredients!

I experiment a little bit with my Blood Orange Vodka Soda. It adds another level of citrus flavor to the drink, but doesn’t overly sweeten it. It also only adds one more ingredient to your list, so it’s still a super easy cocktail to make at home to unwind or entertain some friends!

Ingredients

  • Vodka: Clean and smooth, depending on the brand of vodka, it’s usually pretty flavorless and acts as a great base for cocktails.
  • Blood orange liqueur: Sweetens the cocktail a little bit, but I love to use Thatcher’s blood orange liqueur since it doesn’t use high fructose corn syrup, but has strong blood orange flavor.
  • Lime juice: Fresh, bright, and acidic flavor that balances the slight sweetness from the orange.
  • Club soda: Finishes off the drink and makes it a bit fizzy.

How to Make a Blood Orange Vodka Soda

To make your blood orange vodka soda start by filling your glasses and cocktail shaker with ice. Then pour in the fresh lime juice and blood orange liqueur to the shaker.

Next add the vodka to the shaker, then close and shake for 30 seconds.

Pour evenly across the glasses, then top with the soda water. Garnish with limes and fresh mint, then serve, sip, and enjoy your Blood Orange Vodka Soda!

Vodka is a popular choice, along with champagne and rum.

Yes! If you use a large pitcher, you can mix all of the ingredients together and serve to a large group. Though I’d recommend waiting to add the club soda to the individual glasses as they are served.
