If you’ve been following my recipes for a while, you probably know I love wraps. Wraps are a simple way to incorporate tasty protein and healthy vegetables into your diet. They are also the perfect light lunch or dinner!
As a recipe developer, I like to develop easy, nutritious recipes with a flavorful twist. A nod to my heritage, these Lebanese salad pita sandwich wraps are ideal for health-conscious diets and vegetarians alike. These delicious wraps boast protein-packed hummus and creamy cucumber yogurt sauce.
Lebanese Salad Ingredients
- Middle Eastern Syrian Salad: Dressed in lemon juice, fresh garlic, olive oil, and mint, this is the ideal salad for Lebanese wraps. You can make this salad before or after you create the cucumber yogurt sauce. I recommend trying this salad first for the wraps, however, you can adapt this recipe for a different take.
- Large pitas, thin style: Folds in all of your delicious wrap ingredients. Opt for Lavash, a thin flatbread usually leavened and baked in a tandoor or on a sajj, or another favorite type of pita bread.
- Hummus: Adds loads of protein to your wrap! Be sure to try my homemade hummus recipe for this one. If you’re pressed for time, the store-bought route is perfectly fine.
Cucumber Yogurt Sauce Ingredients
- Whole milk plain yogurt: Serves as a nutritious base for the cucumber yogurt sauce. You can use greek yogurt for a thicker consistency — whether it’s full fat, low fat or 2%.
- Lemon juice: Infuses a citrusy, tangy freshness alongside the other flavors in the sauce. Even a small splash of lemon can brighten a recipe without stealing the spotlight.
- Garlic: Packs a ton of flavor in this cucumber yogurt sauce when you grate raw garlic for a flavorful addition.
- Dried mint: Adds a refreshing herbal hint. Dill is the traditional herb used in Tzatziki sauce, so feel free to swap with dill or get creative with another favorite herb.
- Cucumber: Technically a fruit but used as a vegetable for culinary purposes, cucumbers offer an incredible amount of nutrients as well as just the right crunch in this yogurt sauce.
How to Make Cucumber Yogurt Sauce
Cucumber yogurt sauce, also known as Tzatziki sauce, is a wildly popular summer dip and is always served cold. There are many variations of it throughout the world and this recipe calls for homemade sauce. To get started, first, add diced cucumbers and whole milk yogurt to a medium-sized bowl.
Next, add the seasoning for this unique dip — my favorite part! To do this, grate one clove of garlic, then add salt, pepper and dried mint. It’s also popular to use fresh dill. The combination of flavors creates a background garlic flavor with an herbal taste.
To complete the sauce, squeeze lemon juice over the top. You can also use a handheld juicer if that’s easier — I like to use them to get as much juice as possible. Once you’re done, it’s time to make the wraps.
How to Make Lebanese Salad Wraps
First, to prepare the pita sandwiches, spread two tablespoons of homemade, yummy hummus in the center of each pita bread.
Second, top the pita hummus with prepared Middle Eastern Salad. The ingredients in this recipe are the basis of a Syrian (or Lebanese) salad. If you haven’t tried this salad before, I promise you will want to make it over and over again!
Third, drizzle the hummus and salad with two tablespoons of the fresh cucumber yogurt sauce and begin to fold the pita bread. If you like a lot of sauce on your wraps, you just might want to make more!
Finally, wrap the pita bread tightly, then cut it in half to serve. Lay the pita bread flat, hold it in place with your non-dominant hand and cut it in half at an angle with a chef’s knife.

Store the cucumber yogurt sauce and salad in airtight containers in the fridge and the pita bread at room temperature. Pita bread will last for five to seven days at room temperature. Pre-made pita salad wraps will only last three to four days in the fridge.
Place parchment paper between each pita wrap before freezing, so they don’t stick. Seal them in an airtight bag for up to three months in the freezer.

Lebanese Salad Pita Wraps with Hummus and Cucumber Sauce
Cucumber Yogurt Sauce
- 1 cup whole milk plain yogurt
- 1 cup diced cucumber
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 clove garlic grated
- 1 teaspoon dried mint
- salt and pepper to taste
- In a small bowl, mix together the cucumber yogurt sauce.
- To prepare pitas, spread two tablespoons of hummus in the center of the pita bread. Top with 1 cup of the prepared Middle Eastern Salad and drizzle with two tablespoons of the cucumber yogurt sauce. Wrap tightly then cut in half to serve.
