Cool, creamy, and delicious – this Strawberry Sunrise Breakfast Smoothie is vitamin-packed, and not only tastes great, but is full of protein and fiber to give you lasting energy.

We love smoothies in this house. Easy to make, portable, and versatile, we typically start our day with one of my smoothie recipes. My boys are now practically teenagers, but as early as 8 months we began introducing them to smoothies made with whole milk yogurt. Ideal for using up leftover fruit, smoothies are the ideal breakfast-in-a-glass packed with vitamins and nutrients to give you lasting energy.
Most recently I created a Strawberry Sunrise Breakfast Smoothie to use up leftover orange juice I had in the refrigerator. The tangy citrus adds the perfect amount of acidity and tang to balance the sweet and juicy strawberries.
Ingredients
- Strawberries: Sweet, juicy, and sometimes a little tart. If it’s not strawberry season, feel free to use frozen strawberries. It’s easy to freeze your own berries to use all year round!
- Banana: Naturally sweet and creamy, I use a banana so I don’t ever add any processed sugars.
- Orange juice: Sweet, tangy, and packed full of vitamin C.
- Yogurt: You can use plain yogurt if the fruit adds enough sweetness for you, or use vanilla yogurt.
- Flax seed meal: Flavorless, but adds essential omega 3 fatty acids to your drink.
- Cinnamon: Adds a bit of warmth and antioxidants to the smoothie.
How to Make Strawberry Sunrise Breakfast Smoothie

Step 1. Start by washing and cutting your strawberries and peeling your banana.

Step 2. Then add your banana and strawberries to your blender.

Step 3. Followed by the yogurt, orange juice, flax seed meal, and cinnamon.

Step 4. Add some ice, then blend until smooth, adding more ice or orange juice to get to your preferred consistency.

Pour into glasses, then serve and enjoy your Strawberry Sunrise Breakfast Smoothie!
Frequently Asked Questions
I wouldn’t recommend making this smoothie more than 30 minutes before you plan to enjoy it. With that said, to save time in the morning, you can place all the ingredients in the blender the night before, refrigerate the blender full of ingredients overnight then simply blend in the morning.
Simply swap out the yogurt or milk with full-fat coconut milk or water to make vegan.
Yes absolutely! A whole orange is even better because you’ll get all of the fiber from the fruit.
