Need a few more reasons to make this dip?
With the big game right around the corner, this black bean dip is sure to be a home run. (Oops…touch down? I’m not much of a sports person.) Regardless, this dip couldn’t be easier to make and comes together in just minutes. You simply pulse together black beans with fresh cilantro, salsa, lime juice, garlic and spices until thick and creamy.
Since dips can be a bit of a slippery slope when eating them with tortilla chips, I always keep my fridge stocked with celery sticks. They give me that crispy, crunchy texture I’m looking for without packing on the fat and calories.
I like to save my fat calories for the healthy kind found in guacamole if you know what I mean.
Frequently asked questions:
What benefits do black beans have?
Good source of dietary fiber.
Black beans have more antioxidants, gram per gram, than any other bean. (Runner up? Red.)
Great source of protein – minus the cholesterol and saturated fat.
How to add a smoky flavor to black bean dip?
Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce are the star ingredient to add for this dip. You can find them in most grocery stores, international markets or online. Deep, woodsy, smoky and delicious – this will be the ingredient that has your friends begging for the recipe. If you prefer a more mild dip, remove the seeds from the peppers which are where most of the heat lives.
What do you do with leftover chipotle peppers?
Does cilantro need to be in a dip?
If you aren’t a fan of cilantro like my husband just leave it out!
