No surprises over here, the person who loves to host parties has another appetizer recipe to share! And in the heat of summer, a recipe that doesn’t require any cooking is the best! I love these Smoked Shrimp Caprese Skewers since they’re easy and quick to make, and the shrimp already being cooked adds to the convenience. Made with Big O’ Smokehouse smoked shrimp, its a wonderful twist on the classic caprese salad flavors.

Ingredients

  • Smoked shrimp: Ready-to-eat, high-protein, and packed with delicious smoky flavor. Check your local grocery stores to see what is available!
  • Tomatoes: Juicy, somewhat sweet, and full of umami flavor, grape or cherry tomatoes are perfect to pop right in your mouth.
  • Mozzarella: Pearl-sized, fresh mozzarella balls are bite-sized and still pack the creamy, milky taste of buffalo mozzarella.
  • Basil: A little bit sweet and earthy, fresh basil leaves add the perfect balance to the rest of the flavors.
  • Olive oil: Dresses the skewers with some salt & pepper for the perfect finishing touch.

Why Use Big O’ Smokehouse Shrimp?

  • They have two delicious flavors to choose from, classic smoked and Cajun seasoned.
  • I love to support local and independent small businesses, and Big O’ Smokehouse is a Michigan based family owned business.
  • It is so convenient! The smoked shrimp are ready-to-use for whatever snack, appetizer, or meal you are making.
  • The quality is top-notch, with the cook and flavor being super consistent, resulting in no chewy, fishy shrimp.

Making smoked shrimp caprese skewers is quick and simple. Start by cleaning your basil and stripping the leaves from the stems.

Next take your wooden skewers and thread one of each ingredient on the stick.

The order of the ingredients doesn’t matter, but keep going until you’ve either run out of ingredients, or you’ve run out of skewers.

Once finished, lay them out on a platter and drizzle with olive oil, salt and black pepper. To up the Italian flavor, try adding a balsamic glaze or a drizzle of pesto. Then serve and enjoy your Smoked Shrimp Caprese Skewers!

Frequently Asked Questions

What pairs well with shrimp skewers?

Pastas are a great choice, along with rice or another type of grain.

How do you serve cold shrimp at a party?

If you’re worried about the skewers getting too warm, you can always set the tray on a bed of ice to keep them cool!

Can I make this dish in advance?

Yes, but I wouldn’t make it more than a day before so that the basil doesn’t wilt.
