My 10 month old loves smoothies and has been enjoying them for several months now. Typically, they are a great way for mommy to buy some time while the baby feeds himself breakfast.

On a good day, smoothie time can provide mommy with 10-15 minutes of freedom to drink a cup of coffee or, gasp, prepare her own breakfast.

All of that changed with today’s Avocado Blueberry Smoothie. It was gone in 2 minutes. Literally. I turned away to pour myself a cup of coffee and by the time I turned around, it was half gone.

If you have never added avocado to a smoothie, I encourage you to give it a try. The rich, creamy fruit provides a smooth texture to any smoothie and fills your body with heart-healthy fats. For more on the health benefits of avocado, check out my Avocado Egg Sandwich recipe.

Frozen fruit:

If you’re looking to use frozen blueberries for this smoothie there is no issue. It would take the place of the ice cubes being used.

  1. Meh. I found this smoothie a bit on the tasteless side. I was looking for a zmoothie to use up a bit of avocado and this one held promise with the blueberry and banana combo. However, it just didn’t live up to my hopes. I did substitute coconut milk for the water and ice and use all frozen fruit, but this shouldn’t have resulted in the lack of flavour

  2. My 8 month old loves this! It was as if I had never given him anything quite so delicious….he whined when I took his cup away to give him more! Thanks for sharing a healthy, filling and fun smoothie recipe!

  3. My one-year-old loved this smoothie! It was just sweet enough from the banana, and a little tart from the yogurt. Very yummy! I am trying to find ways to get her more calories and nutrients throughout the day, and this fit the bill!

  4. Hello

Can I freeze this in a pouch then just defrost it in the mornings? If so how long can I freeze it for ?

    Amazing recipe thank you

  5. Super excited to give this to my 7 month old to for his first smoothie! He loves all of these ingredients, although I will be subbing oats for an oats and quinoa mix because I don’t have just oats. Hope it comes out!
