This easy step-by-step tutorial will show you how to shred chicken with a stand mixer, ready to use for any recipe.

I have, and use, so many recipes that call for shredded chicken, like my chicken and mushroom casserole, asian citrus slow cooker chicken or hushwee rice and chicken. Honestly, I think it’s one of the most commonly called for proteins. And sometimes you have the time to slowly pull apart the chicken breasts with two forks. But other times, for instance when making a lot of food for a large gathering, it’s nice to have one less thing to worry about. That’s why I love this hack of using my Kitchen Aid, and figured I would share and show you all how to shred chicken with a stand mixer.

How To Shred Chicken with a Stand Mixer

Step 1. Start by cooking your chicken breasts with your preferred method. I usually cook them on the stove or in an Instant Pot.

Step 2. After you add your chicken to the pot, add your desired aromatics. I used rosemary, onion, and garlic. Cover with water and bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 25 minutes.

Step 3. Once chicken is fully cooked, use tongs to move the chicken to the bowl of your stand mixer.

Step 4. With the paddle attachment, turn your stand mixer onto a low speed, and let it shred to your desired size.

You can immediately use the shredded chicken for a recipe, or store it in the fridge or freezer to use later.
