When it comes to entertaining, I love serving big batch cocktails that I can prepare ahead of time. Depending on the size of the group, guests can either serve themselves or I can simply pour them a glass as they arrive.

    Friends Laughing

Rum punches are always a crowd-pleaser: fresh, fruity and easy to drink, I love pairing various types of rum with fruit juices to create an easy make-ahead cocktail.

    Prepping ahead:

If you’re looking to prepare this for your next party or event you can prepare it up to one day in advance.

    Liz Slicing Pineapple

For this particular Caribbean Rum Punch, I mix together pineapple, orange and lime juice with two types of rum: light and coconut-infused.

    Rum options:

Any type of rum works. I’ve tried this recipe with light, dark, spiced and coconut and they all work great. Use whatever you have on hand.

    Liz Garnishing Glass

Since pineapple and orange juice are on the sweeter side, I like to add the juice of at least one lime to balance with a bit of acidity. Lemon juice works well too if you don’t have limes on hand.

    Easy Rum Punch

In addition to fruit juice, I add in a bit of grenadine for both flavor and color.

    Grenadine Explained

Grenadine is a commonly used, non-alcoholic bar syrup, characterized by a flavor that is both tart and sweet, and by a deep red color. It is popular as an ingredient in cocktails, both for its flavor and to give a reddish or pink tint to mixed drinks.

To serve, simply pour over ice and garnish with any fruit pieces you have on hand. A maraschino cherry would be cute too.
