My mom has been making this Fruit Salad with Honey Yogurt Dressing for as long as I can remember. We always had plain yogurt in the house growing up to serve with Lebanese food or to whip up a quick Cucumber Laban Sauce, so it only makes sense that she used it in fruit salad. It’s so simple and quick to make, but delicious and healthy! Tossing the fresh fruit in yogurt keeps it from browning, making it the perfect make ahead snack for the whole week. This recipe is versatile and can be used with any fruit you have on hand (be sure to check out the BEST way to cut a watermelon!)

Ingredients

  • Yogurt: Plain yogurt has no added sugars, but is packed full of probiotics, protein, calcium, and vitamins. You can use regular or Greek yogurt for the sauce.
  • Honey: An all natural sweetener. Alternatively, you could use agave nectar if you don’t use honey.
  • Banana: Soft and sweet, they’re full of potassium and other vitamins.
  • Cantaloupe: Sweet and juicy, it’s another great source of potassium and it helps you stay hydrated!
  • Blueberries: Small bursts of bittersweet, juicy goodness.
  • Strawberries: Another naturally sweet and juicy berry, it blends well with both the banana and blueberries.

How to Make

Start your fruit salad with honey yogurt dressing by washing your berries and then slicing your banana and strawberries, and cutting your cantaloupe in half.

Next, in a large bowl, add in your plain yogurt.

Then drizzle in your honey of choice, I like to use a local clover honey for the added allergy benefits.

Whisk together until honey is fully incorporated in the yogurt.

Then take a melon baller and add the cantaloupe to the yogurt.

Next add your blueberries.

Followed by the sliced banana and strawberries.

Gently toss until fruit is evenly distributed and everything is coated in the yogurt dressing.

Mix It Up

Plenty of different fruits would taste delicious with this yogurt dressing. Or, alternatively, you could serve the fruit prepared on a platter with the honey yogurt as a dip in a small bowl. Either way, here are some other fruits you could try:

  • Mango
  • Apples
  • Blackberries
  • Mandarin Oranges
  • Raspberries
  • Grapes
  • Pineapple

Frequently Asked Questions:

How do you make cut fruit not turn brown?

If you want to prep the fruit but not put them in the yogurt right away, coating them in something acidic will help keep them from browning. Lemon juice, orange juice, or even pineapple juice will all do the trick!

How long does fruit salad with yogurt last in the fridge?

Because of the yogurt dressing, this fruit salad will keep for 3-5 days in the fridge in an airtight container.

How do you dress up plain yogurt?

Honey is a great way to naturally sweeten it, but I’ll also add mint as well as freshly grated ginger!

My family loved this fruit salad, but I had to substitute apples for the melon. I have a family member who has problems digesting melon. It turned out great and the apples gave it a really nice crunch.

I’ve basically been INHALING all the fruit lately and am pretty sure i would love it even more in salad..this way I get some variety and can have bites of each kind. The yogurt dressing sounds fabulous! I always have yogurt in the fridge and this is a perfect use for it.
