Frequently Asked Questions:

How long can these be stored?

When stored in the refrigerator, this recipe will stay fresh up to five days. This being said, I recommend serving this recipe immediately upon chilling.

Can I use a sweetener other than simple syrup?

Simple syrup works best with this recipe as it blends easily. If you prefer, feel free to mix in any other sweetener of choice. However, be aware that it make cause clumping. In addition, remember that every sugar substitute has a different level of sweetness which will affect the drink’s taste. Take a look at this guide to find the perfect option for you.

Can this be frozen?

Yes! If stored in an airtight container in the freezer, this recipe will last up to 3 months.

What type of fresh fruit works best for soaking in the sangria?

The best fruits to include in sangria recipes are firm. For example, pears, apples, oranges, lemons, and strawberries all work well in standard recipes. In addition, in order to balance flavor profiles, I recommend including one on-citrus and one citrus fruit in your recipes. However, if you’re feeling adventurous, frozen variations like my Peach Raspberry Frozen Sangria easily allow for a greater combination of fruits as they do not have to soak in the alcohol.

What’s the best type of wine to use for sangria?

Nearly all wine can work within sangria recipes – just be mindful of the various flavors. I suggest choosing a fruity red wine such as Rioja or Pinot Noir. Or, if you prefer white wines Pinot Grigio and Salneval Albarino are common choices.

So, whether you’re hosting holiday parties or celebrating on your own, this drink is guaranteed to please.
