Fresh, zesty pico de gallo made with simple ingredients in minutes! The perfect salsa fresca for tacos, chips, and easy summer entertaining.

Game Day is right around the corner and I don’t know about you but I am all in for anything that involves a day of eating appetizers like black bean dip, crispy oven baked wings or cheesy baked hummus dip. Are you hosting friends? Heading to a party? Either way you roll, I’ve got you covered.
My fresh and flavorful pico de gallo recipe couldn’t be easier to make if you tried. You simply toss together Roma tomatoes with red onion, minced jalapeño, fresh garlic, cilantro and lime juice. I also love making a cucumber pico de gallo!
Ingredients
- Tomatoes: Roma tomatoes work best for pico, but in a bind you can use any tomato.
- Onion: I like to use a red onion for flavor and color, but you could use white onion.
- Cilantro: Adds fresh, citrusy, herby flavor to the salsa. If cilantro gives you that soapy taste, you can use parsley instead.
- Jalapeño: A mild pepper, but still adds heat to the pico de gallo. Keep the seeds and pith for spice, or remove them all to keep it mild.
- Lime juice: Adds needed acidity and fresh citrus flavor.
- Garlic: Nutty, pungent, and aromatic, it’s also a necessity in any salsa.
How to Make Pico de Gallo

Step 1. Start by cleaning out the centers of your Roma tomatoes, then dice all of your ingredients.

Step 2. Add the tomato, pepper, cilantro, onion, and garlic to a large bowl.

Step 3. Juice your limes over the top of everything.

Step 4. Season to taste with salt and pepper, then stir to combine.

Serve alongside tortilla chips, tacos, grilled meats, eggs, burrito bowls, or as a fresh topping for just about anything! Enjoy your Pico de Gallo!

Yes! You can make it a few hours in advance to let the flavors meld, but for the freshest taste and texture, serve it the same day.
It can be! The heat level depends on the type and amount of peppers used. Remove seeds for a milder version or add extra jalapeño for more kick.
